The project involved construction of a fully air conditioned physical fitness centre including basketball court, squash court, activities rooms, change rooms and outdoor gym areas. It included construction of a twenty five metre swimming pool including all filtration and water treatment equipment and landscaping to surrounds.
One of the biggest innovations on the project arose from the ground anchors having to be belled out at their base for undercutting. The local contractor could not do this size belling. Sitzler designed a belling system at its head office and carried out the works itself.
Various problems were encountered throughout the project. One such example was tiling to the pool, which could not be done during the day as the heat did not allow sufficient time for the glue to cure, hence a night shift carried out the tiling works.
The project ran smoothly and well ahead of schedule due to good relations with the client, Australian Construction Services and good planning and management. Good relations with the subcontractors who have worked with us for many years helped to create a constructive attitude on the project.
The quality of work and service provided by Sitzler was of a high standard and in fact exceeded the industry norm. The general management approach to the project was one of co-operation and consultation. It should also be noted that Sitzler's attitude to variations was fair and honest.
