One of our most successful projects, which involved the design and construction of a fifty-bed hostel in a remote location. The consultants chosen by us included Ross Tonkin & Associates (Architects) and Sleeman Dunkley Treacy Maunsell (Engineers) now Sinclair Knight Merz.

Innovative techniques to speed up construction of the building included built in louvres and using a simple trussed roof structure. The building was constructed on absolute beachfront land and the selection of suitable types of building materials for maximum protection from the harsh coastal environment was of paramount importance. The site had difficulties in drainage due to the hilly surroundings and this was overcome by designing foundations which limited the amount of fill required by keeping floor slabs well clear of the existing ground.

The project was completed in record time and the client was very happy with the quality and functionality of the end product.

George Dewis, who I believe has not gone beyond one day of visiting the site from beginning to completion is absolutely thrilled with the hostel, the commitment and professionalism of your team, the efforts made in using local labour, and the fast track system.
