Darwin, Northern Territory Client:
Department of Defence Contract Value:
$9.9M Completion Date:
July 1996 Referees:
Chris Goodwin, Connell Wagner Savant
Paul Watkinson, Woods Bagot
This project consisted of the completion of detailed design documentation and construction of:
1st Brigade Headquarters Building,
Darwin Logistic Battalion Building,
Parade Ground, and associated site works.
At tender we submitted a series of alternatives which we believe gave a greater value for money than those specified. Some of these alternatives were accepted by the client.
Sitzler played a major role in the completion of the design of the project by continually advising the architect and consultants as to the constructability, best building practice, incorporation of safety requirements during construction into the design etc.
Our pro-active approach to all aspects of the design ensured that on site activity commenced with the minimum of delay and without disputation between parties.
Innovations during the design phase instigated by Sitzler included structural steel, concrete columns, airconditioning,
electrical, hydraulic, fire, ceiling and joinery components of the project. This had an effect on both value for money and constructability of the project.
I would like to take this opportunity to indicate my pleasure at the progress of construction of the Headquarters of the 1st Brigade and Headquarters of the 1st Brigade and Headquarters Darwin Logisitics Battalion buildings at Robertson Barracks. Both projects are approaching completion ahead of schedule. As normal for Sitzler the project staff have been professional, responsive and dedicated. There is evident "project first" attitude throughout the site.
