The Katherine Hotel, along with several other buildings in the Katherine area was inundated with water following the flooding of the Katherine River during an above average wet season. This project involved the removal and reinstatement of damage to the Hotel, Bar Bistro area, hotel units and the managers accommodation.
Widespread damage to the buildings required complete rebuilding of certain areas with damage to fittings, walls, floors, ceilings and mechanical and electrical works. Extensive consultation between the owners and their insurance company was required by the Sitzler team to provide a rectified building that met all current legislative requirements, within the settlement budget.
Consultation between local authorities and government departments was instigated by the Sitzler project team opening lines of communication necessary for a successful project. The Territory Health Service and NT Work Safe were consulted on the project and Microbial Analysis carried out throughout the building to ensure health issues associated with water damage were considered in the rectification works.
The Katherine Hotel on completion has become a landmark in the town and showcases Sitzler's ability to perform works within budget, on time to an extremely high standard.
