This is the first stage of four for the upgrade of the existing nursing home. This stage is a new wing consisting of 16 beds and associated dining & lounge facilities. The original design was a solid brick construction with traditional tiled roof. However given the location & current costs of wet trades this proved to be cost restrictive. At our suggestion the construction method was altered to brick veneer; resulting in considerable cost savings to the client along with an improved delivery time for the facility. This has been achieved with the close working relationship established with the Architect.
Not only has there been an initial capital cost saving realised but ongoing costs have also been reduced due to the improved insulation capacity of the revised walling system without compromising the sound attenuation characteristics.
Throughout we have endeavoured to utilise local trades as an important priority of working in country areas. This has resulted in a boost for the local economy & local employment and also has resulted in an experienced pool of trades for ongoing maintenance throughout the life of the facility. Close supervision and very open lines of communication have been established & maintained throughout the course of the project. This has proved a very tangible benefit to the staff & clientele of the nursing home as well to the construction and design team.
