The project work scope included the removal and disposal of galbestos cladding and the recladding and structural upgrade of the main workshop
Asbestos removal contractor, McMahon Services Australia Pty Ltd were engaged by Sitzler to remove all galbestos roof and wall cladding. A Galbestos Removal Management Plan (GRMP) was prepared prior to project commencement to identify responsibilities, safe work methods and processes to be used during this phase of the project.
Power and Water Corporation staff were relocated to temporary office buildings and continued to work uninterrupted throughout the construction phase. A sealed tunnel was installed enabling 24 hour access to communication equipment for the duration of the works.
With the exception of purlins and girts all structural elements of the building were retained.
This project progressed to include the refurbishment of the main workshop offices and upgrade of the stormwater drainage system.
