Contract Value:
$0.55M

The design and construct project for shade structures in the grounds of the CBD Plaza in central Darwin was commissioned by the Uniting Church to provide shade for customers and its parishioners.

With the Plaza open and trading at the time of the project, works were programmed using a grid system allowing the Sitzler project team to close off small areas of the car park leaving the majority of the carpark available for use. With carparks at a premium within the CBD, priority was given to planning the works in order to minimise disruption to normal trade. No more than eight carparks were obstructed at any one time.

Coordination between the police, the Darwin City Council, client and tenants was required to enable safe delivery and erection of the steel structures with sections of the roads accessing the property closed enabling safe dual crane lifts to take place.

The bulk of the project was undertaken during the wet season but the Sitzler team completed the project ahead of schedule and within the revised contract sum.
