Tiwi, Northern Territory Client:
Masonic Homes Incorporated Contract Value:
$0.28M Completion Date:
June 2004 Referees:
As the original contractors on the facility Sitzler were requested to tender on maintenance works for the Tiwi Retirement Village. The maintenance works involved:
Painting of all hardiplank, soffits and rendered blockwork to all units and community hall;
Removal of plywood cladding and replace with colorbond sheeting;
Rehabilitation works to drains - units 6 & 26
Installation of bridge over non-compliant concrete falls
Barricades to ramps
External light bollards
During removal of the plywood cladding to units it was discovered that the vapour barrier (sisalation) had begun to deteriorate and cause oxidation of steel members and base flashing. Investigation showed the sisalation was defective, was replaced and remedial works carried out on all units and the community centre.
Consultation with the client and residents of the facility was an imperative component of the project ensuring all parties requirements were met. With the variation in works the completion date was extended and works completed to the satisfaction of the client and tenants.
