In May 2006 Sitzler was awarded the contract to build the new Darwin Football Stadium at the Marrara Sporting Precinct. The 6.55M project includes two full sized football (soccer) fields, a grandstand building with seating capacity of up to 1000, change rooms and ablutions, first aid room, kiosk and referees' room, flood lighting on the main field, fencing, landscaping, paving and car parking and access road.

Subsoil drainage to the pitches and irrigation systems were installed prior to the planting of grass and due to a limited time frame it was decided to plant stolons rather than seed to accelerate cover and growth.

The stadium was constructed using precast columns and walls prepared off site and transported to the stadium. Seating for the stadium was also precast and as the lift shaft block work was installed the concrete concourse suspended slab formwork was prepared around it.

Provision for a future scoreboard was made during the construction of the pitches with conduit laid beneath the pitch.

Sitzler invest a great deal of time ensuring supply contracts are let locally and completed this project with 100% of the materials and purchases awarded locally.

Now complete the stadium will provide Darwin with an international standard facility and enhance the already world class Marrara Sporting Precinct.
