NT Airports recognised the requirement for a new car parking facility within short walking distance of the existing General Aviation car park to service both passengers and crew alike with long and short term parking options, and hence approached Sitzler in an effort to procure our services.
Given the previous lack of available parking within the immediate area our client required practical completion prior to the busy Christmas period to enable both increased public access to light aviation business, and the subsequent collection of remuneration via newly introduced ticket stations.
Later negotiations saw a pedestrian link bridge incorporated into the project scope which was then completed to allow ease of access across the existing OUD which accommodates the significant storm water run off collected from the runway, over run and verge areas.
Sitzler were ultimately able to achieve a practical completion date prior to the Christmas holiday period despite the onset of what has become the wettest wet season month by month on record. This achievement was made possible by implementing various strategic sequencing, construction methods and use of materials by which site production time was maximized, and delays due to the effects of inclement weather were reduced to a minimum.
Effective procurement saw long lead time items such as lighting poles delivered within the relatively short contract phase and contributed to the overall success of the project along with the harmonious support of our suppliers, subcontractors and client alike.
