In December 2009, with the onset of the wet season, Sitzler were awarded the contract for the construction of a new Police Teaching Facility at the Peter McAulay Police Centre in Berrimah. The project commenced immediately on award with the aim of getting the building off the ground prior to the Christmas break and the looming wet season.

The project provides a new educational facility for Northern Territory police recruits. It includes classrooms, a hi-tech computer suite, store rooms, amenities facility, bathrooms, locker areas and office space.

It is a unique semi-elevated design wrapping around a central courtyard that is covered with fixed single stage louvers - a design sympathetic to the tropical climate with a combination of air conditioned and naturally ventilated spaces.

The project scope increased considerable throughout the contract and also grew to include the complete refurbishment of a computer suite inside the existing Police Facility.

Sitzlers are proud to be a part of this educational facility that will assist in police recruit training for many years to come.
