The Seaford K-7 Primary School Activity Hall was a Design & Construct project, developed as part of the Commonwealths Building Education Revolution scheme.

A multipurpose, single storey activity hall, combined with a covered walkway connecting the hall and the main teaching building, form the basis of this project.

The activity hall is approximately 500mm2, with a ceiling height of 5.5m. It is fitted with sports flooring and equipment and court markings for netball, basketball, badminton and volley ball. Whilst the lower walls are masonry, the upper walls are clad with perforated metal backed with acoustic insulation, ensuring good, giving an acoustic performance free of reverberation.

As the facility is also intended for community use, it is fitted with a kitchen off the main hall. Equipment stores are also provided off the main hall.

Based on a template design provided by the client, the design phase included the siting of the building to best suit the available space. Site investigations were done to ensure the design employed the best design of the raft slab and pad footings for the structural steel framing and superstructure, together with underground services and their integration into the existing school campus infrastructure.
The template design for the evaporative cooling system was altered and refined to improve efficiencies providing savings in projected running costs. The evaporative cooling is integrated with a gas heating system using common controls.
